Has anyone successfully obtained a DTV from the London embassy whilst holding a METV. I know somebody was denied in Hanoi but each embassy is different. Thanks.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The ability to obtain a DTV (Digital Nomad Visa) while holding a METV (Multiple Entry Tourist Visa) depends on specific embassy policies and general visa rules. Comments indicate that typically, a new visa cannot be applied for if another is still valid, but exceptions may arise particularly with the DTV rollout.
it depends on the embassy's or consulate's own discretion. NORMALLY you cannot apply for a new visa if you are on a still valid visa or on a still valid stay permit. With the introduction of the DTV on July 15th, 2024, we hear more and more reports of exceptions that have occured

If you already have a visa you can't get another until the current one is finished
non O 12 'retire visa ' ending Dec 24. DTV issued in OCTOBER 2024, ex Canberra. Why do you suggest I'm lying when you offer no evidence to support your assertions?
You were on an extension of stay. You are not on a visa. Understanding the difference is why I didn't accuse you of being a liar, you just don't understand the difference. Many have gotten the DTV with a live extension of stay. None have gotten the DTV with a live visa
that was an absolute exception, and it depends on the embassy's or consulate's own discretion. NORMALLY you cannot apply for a new visa if you are on a still valid visa or on a still valid stay permit. With the arrival of the DTV, we hear more and more exceptions have been made
