I'm in Chiang Rai and I want to do a border bounce. Should I go to Myanmar (Tachileik) or Laos (Chiang Khong)? EU passport . thanks

Could I get an update in regards to going to Tachileik crossing over to the Burma side and returning and getting the 45 days "visa exempt" stamp (being from Canada)? I've heard stories about it being closed? and something about not getting stamps or holding the passports? In other words is it a viable "border bounce"?
