Hi everyone. I have 2 questions, 1- Did the immigration rules change this Feb 1 , 2025? 2- I had pension income verified by my Canadian embassy (over the 65k/Mon) but immigration did not accept it stating that it is not a "guarantee" from the embassy. Did anyone experience this, and can you please share?

Now I have to open bank account and deposit 800k bht into the account to get me 3 + 12 month visa. So I need to transfer 30k dollars from Canada into Thailand which is not an easy task.

Thanks guys!!!

Opening bank accounts is not going to be getting easier anytime soon. This is not aimed at DTV holders but it is about all accounts. Thailand seems to be getting serious about scammers and limiting bank accounts is just one tool.

"To further deter the creation of mule accounts, the BOT will make the account opening process more stringent. Banks will be empowered to refuse account openings if the applicant's circumstances are unclear or to impose transaction limits or even deny account access from the outset."

Now that I've had over $10,000 in a Thailand bank for the last four months I am assuming that I will be required to file the paperwork the United States government requires in this situation. Has anybody found a reasonablely priced local agent to complete this paperwork?

As the DTV is available for a while now, has anyone been able to open up a bank account in Bangkok on a DTV visa?

Has anyone gotten any luck with opening a bank account with the DTV visa?

Went to 4 banks (3 Bangkok Bank and 1 Kasikorn) today and each said they can't open it with the DTV.

Has anyone gotten the account with the DTV?

BBL Rant

I have the same passport and phone number for two years. I got a new phone and had to log onto my Bangkok Bank mobile banking. Should.be easy, not.

1 login with my passport number

and my birth date. Failed multiple

tries with an error saying the data

does not match.

2. I go to Central on Saturday. A bank

official pulls me aside. He tries

many things to check my data

and finds nothing. Too many errors

says to try again at 01:06 Sunday.

The man asks me to take pictures

of the errors (screenshot are

blocked)

3. I return to the bank on Sunday. The

man says easy fix but I miss my que

number and have to wait again.

turns out new rule that I have to

have a picture taken. Ok. I try again

but fail because I am required

to turn off wifi. Ok but fail again

because my phone number is

wrong but same number for 2

years!

Ok so I have to do a 6 page

document and wait a week to

change my number. However

my signature does match even

after many tries. Looks like a

good match to me.

4. I have to go to my home bank

to fix my signature. Not near to

me but no choice.

Any suggestions for Safe Deposit Boxes for foreigners that don't require a huge one time-charge or a fee to start the annual rental?

Also any advice on opening foreign currency deposit accounts in banks? (USD and GBP)

Thanks!

I am planning to eventually retire to Thailand, but I would like to open a bank account before I do. Is it possible to open an account as a tourist, and if so, what is procedure?
