Will my previous Non-B visa affect my DTV application in Thailand?

Feb 24, 2025
I used to have a Non-B from the late 2023 to early 2024 and the visa stamp shows it is valid until July 2024. In May 2024, I left the company and the company cancelled the visa and work permit. Before the visa is expired in July, I come out of Thailand for a while and come back again with 60-day visa exemption.

Now I plan to apply for DTV. Just wondering if that Non-B stamp could make DTV application failed? Shall I apply for a new passport before applying for DTV?

Welcome suggestions.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The consensus from community comments is that having a previous Non-B visa will not negatively impact your DTV application. It may slightly increase the likelihood of being questioned upon entry, but it should not pose a significant problem. It's also noted that presenting a Thai bank statement while applying for the DTV could require an explanation letter, based on past experiences.

I presume you have a Thai bank account. If you present your Thai bank statement for your DTV application, they may ask you for an explanation letter. I was asked for such letter during my DTV application.

Will not affect your DTV application in any way. Also will not get questions on entry in regards to this Why would you ? It's a new visa no problem. Good luck

Should be absolutely fine with having a Non-B previously. I first had a Non-B 26 years ago. Since then visa exempt, tourist visas ( 18 months of Visa Exempt and SETV 2017 to 2018) , retirement O, B again, back to Retirment O. Never been any issues with different visa types as long as you qualified and did not abuse the system. You will be fine. Good luck.

Anonymous participant Well over many over the years but recently have O to Visa Exempt to B to Visa Exempt to O. Changing passports makes no difference. They have your records. It might have made a difference 25 years ago and change of name.

It won't affect your application for a DTV but could increase your chances of being questioned on entry.

The only thing they might ask about is checking no work in Thailand for Thai companies etc erc

Yes they like to make sure you're not working illegally. I'm glad I can just say doing Muay Thai if I get asked what I'm doing.

It depends on location but they do seem to be going after people working illegally. Tour Guides, hairdressers, kindergarten etc. All roles specifically excluded from foreigners. Not seen so many where a foreigner can get a WP but they do not have one. They are making the LTR easier but they need to remove the foreign company requirements. Much too high for most. If they said as long as 50k USD salary remitted into Thailand and the 17% tax paid on it the numbers woukd be much higher and their tax revenue higher too.

Won't make any difference
