Hey Guys, after some advice for a friend. 

I currently have a 6 month Thai tourist visa, METV. It is valid through December 12. 

I arrive in BKK October 30 and depart December 18 (50 days in Thailand). My understanding is as long as I arrive in Thailand before December 12 I will receive a 60 day visa since I enter the country before my visa expires. 

Is that statement correct?

That sounds totally correct. The visa is used to enter the kingdom. The fact that it expires b4 you leave is not an issue.

Yes. Each entry gives you 60 days stamp. As long as the entry is made before "valid until" date.
