TLDR : Answer Summary
To extend your tourist visa in Bangkok, it depends on how you entered the country. If you arrived on a 60-day tourist visa obtained from a Thai consulate, you should go to the Chaengwattana government complex, specifically to counter J. If you entered without a visa (using visa exempt entry), you need to visit the Muang Thong Thani Immigration office at the police compound near Impact Arena and go to counter K.
Cheers for the information. I arrived on a 60 day SETV. I thought I was clear by using "tourist visa" in my OP, I know there is a difference between SETV and Visa Exemption π
you would be surprised the number of people who DON'T know the difference between the two. I meant no disrespect in my answers to you

Here's how it works
IF you BOUGHT a tourist visa from a thai consulate before you came here and were stamped in for 60 days when you arrived you go to the main immigration office at Chaengwattana gov't complex building B, counter J
BUT
IF you showed up here without any visa in your passport and were stamped in FREE on what's called a visa exempt entry you go to Muang Thong Thani Immigration office out by Impact Arena in the police compound there and you want counter K
