What Visa Should I Get After Staying 66 Days in Thailand?

Hi folks, a newbie here. I've got a quick question. I came to Thailand in April and stayed 45 days and got married to a Thai woman. I went back to visit her in September for her birthday for 21 days. This is a total of 66 days. I've read in some posts that I may have trouble coming back into Thailand in December since I've already been in Thailand a total of over 60 days. Is this true? If so what kind of Visa should I get? I would probably want the one that's easiest to get since I will be going back to Thailand in December. FYI, my wife has a friend in the immigration office in Ubon Ratchathani. Thank you for any information.

So let's sort this out.

First off, you're NOT married. Sadly (for you) a dog-n-pony-show thai wedding ceremony isn't a real marriage.

So all the advice people gave you to get a "marriage visa" of some sort is out the window.

That leaves you with tourist visas or if you're over 50 and can meet the requirements a year long, multi-entry Non-Immigrant Type O-A (Long Stay) visa.

I just found the answer to my question om the Ministry of Foreign Affairs website in the visa question and answers page. I can re-enter Thailand on a Tourist visa not to exceed 90 days in a 6 month period. When I visit in December it will be a new 6 month period. Problem solved.

I forgot to mention the marriage is not registered. We are planning on using a fiance visa to bring her to the US and then get married and registered here.

Getting an American visa is outside the scope of this form.

As soon as your marriage is registered, you can get the non O visa. If it is not registered, then a tourist visa is best. When you do get married legally in the USA, I believe you can get that marriage recognize in Thailand.

 here English is OK but needs improvement but she has already made a couple of Thai friends here. We will be living on the Atlanta Georgia area. Many Asians there. She also has relatives in the US so I think she will be fine. We even went to a temple in the Washington DC area and the Monk knew her father from Ubon. Small world.

 How long do you plan to stay on your next trip?

When do you plan to take her to the USA (i.e. are you anticipating more trips to Thailand after December before you are officially married)?

Are you over 50 and do you have any history in Thailand before April this year?

Did you enter and extend in April or did you enter, leave then come back again to get 45 days?

If you are not over 50 it looks like your cheap visa options will be either Single or Multiple entry tourist visas.

If over 50 then you could get a Non-Immigrant O visa based on retirement.

You shouldn't have an issue with the 66 days and pattern you have mentioned so far but in the end it's up to the IO.

Best thing is to get a Non O based on marriage, from your own country I think you can get a one year multiple entry, but you will have to do an in and out every 90 days.

If it was an official marriage ceremony at the district office, you can get a Non Immigrant O Visa based on that marriage which gives you a 90 day permission to stay.
