What visa options are available for my daughter after an overstay and a failed DTV application in Thailand?

Hello, my daughter is currently on a training scholarship at Thanyapura Sports Resort in Phuket. They originally had her enter Thailand on a non-ed immigrant visa (I think is what it was called). She had it extended and was in Phuket about a year and a half. She traveled to a competition in Europe in December and as the paperwork for her contract renewal was delayed, she ended up on overstay for a couple weeks; she paid the fee when she left. She now has a US passport - originally was on a Micronesian passport as she's dual citizen. Thanyapura had told her to go to Laos and apply for the DTV, which she did, but she was denied. They said the reason was lack of 500,000 in her account, though the training resort had provided a letter for her to confirm her financial support; the resort said that's all she needed, but apparently they were wrong. We are at a loss now as to what visa she should apply for. Her current contract is for a year. She is back in Micronesia and the e-visa site says US citizens applying in Micronesia must apply online through the Beijing embassy.

Any suggestions as to what visa she should apply for? Or should she just return on visa-exempt? Or is it a big risk of being denied entry because of the previous overstay (though on a different passport)?

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user is seeking advice for their daughter who has faced a visa issue after an overstay in Thailand while she was on a training scholarship. She needs assistance in selecting the appropriate visa now that she has switched to a US passport and has previously been denied a DTV visa due to insufficient funds. Recommendations include applying for a multi-entry tourist visa through her Micronesian passport and seeking help from the Beijing embassy.

did you have any issues with the payment for the visa? I had to go through Beijing Embassy for my visa as well, nearly a year ago, but it was very difficult to make payment online as they would only accept payment through a Chinese bank. I finally had to have a Chinese friend of mine make the payment for me with his Chinese bank card and I reimburse him. I'm just wondering if it's the same problem now or if they've made the payment process easier.

No but I had lived for 25 years in China.

I see. That is our issues; the Beijing Embassy only accepts payment from a Chinese bank. We tried again this week and no luck, so we are trying another embassy now.

With her Micronesia passport apply for the multi-entry tourist visa. That can only be applied for in your passport country. That will give her almost a full 9 months in Thailand with only two border bounces, and three extensions. That is the easiest way to start, and the overstay makes no difference.

Kool Breezoverstay does make a difference. You are wrong BUT as with all things Thailand u can speak to the "RIGHT PEOPLE" and provide extra "PAPER" work and all will be fine...

@Joe ****
if it is under 90 days, and the fine is paid it makes no difference, except in applying for the elite/privilege visa.

@Joe ****
How do you do that when you are applying online :D

Different passport does not matter as all information including the overstay is linked to her biometrics.
