TLDR : Answer Summary
An Australian expat in Thailand is seeking advice on obtaining a letter from the Australian embassy to extend their stay past the September 26 amnesty date due to the current situation in Australia. Comments highlight the amnesty details and suggest visiting local immigration for extensions, while noting that the embassy is not issuing extension letters. Discussion includes alternatives for returning to Australia amidst flight limitations and quarantine regulations.
Time to close this, Sorry, but the page is for Thai Visa advice,
The Thai border closed n 26 March, people did have opportunities to leave the country. What will happen or how people can manage flights on the last day of this amnesty is not visa related,

i am a travel agent & trying to 2 clients back from HKG to Australia in September is proving somewhat difficult due to the limited flight options available. The flights have been limited due to the fact that everyone needs to do quarantine on arrival in a government issued hotel at your own expense, around 3000AUD! So, i am not sure where many Australians are expected to go after September as they physically cant all get back into Australia. With all other local borders closed & the consulate not issuing extension letters?? Bangkok Hilton?

Melbourne Airport is not accepting any repatriation flights currently . But , you can fly into Sydney , do your 14 day quarantine , then return home .
Maybe that's not what you WANT to do , but hardly warrants a letter from the AUS Embassy .

From the AU Embassy...

Visa for Thailand
The Thai Government has extended all visa types for foreigners until 26 September, as long as the visa was valid on 26 March 2020.
*** Due to this, the Embassy will no longer be issuing letters for visa extensions. ***
Short stayers (tourists) without visas should depart Thailand before the grace period expires.
Long stayers with visas (expats, retirees) should apply for the extension of their permit to stay before the grace period expires.
If you have any questions regarding this the visa extension process or your own visa circumstances, please direct them to Thai Immigration authorities; Hotline 1178 or
I entered on a tourist visa Boxing Day and got extended in March just before virus closed everything down.

What kind of visa or Extension of Stay did you use to enter or to be inside Thailand? This Embassy letter route is only for people who entered on a Visa Exempt or Tourist Visa,
This because your questions about visit of Immigration at your house for the 1 year Extension of Stay last October?
thanks James, I would marry her, but due to business being closed down for so long I canβt afford to, have all documents except money now.π€π

You have answered your question. Ask your Embassy.
Amnesty ends September 26.

The amnesty is valid until September 26. IF you are granted a letter from the embassy, the immigration office will review the letter, and IF they approve the letter, you will pay 1,900 THB and can stay for another 30 days.
There's a lot of "Ifs" and "mays", and you should make other plans if you don't want to return to Aus.
