I am in Hanoi and I've been refused for my 3rd tourist visa. The reason : "you have spent too much time in Thailand for only tourism purpose". She also told me that I should be able to come back to chiang mai with the 30 days stay. I don't have a "refused" stamp on my passport.
Is someone know if there are chances that I can be stopped at Vietnamese airport or at Chiang mai immigration ?
Thank you

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user in Vietnam reports being denied a third tourist visa to Thailand due to their extended stay, and seeks advice on whether they could face issues while entering Thailand again on a 30-day exemption. The conversation discusses immigration rules related to repeated tourist visa applications, including alternatives like education (ED) and business (B) visas, and the potential complications of crossing back into Thailand under the current circumstances.
Jesus. Is there no shame from foreigners any longer? This is like listening to people from war torn Somalia getting out of the back of a truck in Dover attempting to enter the UK.
I understand your point of view and it seems that you will have many opportunities to be offended if you stay a member of this group.

Ironically, businesses are crying for workers here. There's no reason to be here on visa exempts/ "ED visas" if a person wants to stay here.

i think I understand. Not particulary attached to Thailand but how and what can I do to come back living and working using the Visa Exempt Entry or Tourist Visa, as the visa that i need I do not want to buy. Sometimes in life it is not what you want, time for plan B.

2 T.V and cross border by bus.. You're lucky they still allowed you in. Some people have been denied after their first border run.
But the real question is are you really a tourist or are you working or doing something else here?
A volunteer visa shouldn't cost anything for you (or potentially a small amount for living). Maybe you can reach out to the Chamber of Commerce of France, see what they say?
I will search more about getting a job. Volonteer I don't know... I have sent something like 40 emails to charity organization they all said that volonteer Visa is not easy to obtain. The only one I found cost 2000euros for 2 years and not allowing you to go out of the country
Getting a job in Thailand is easy, and businesses are crying for qualified workers here - especially in the factories and manufacturing businesses. I imagine it should take a month (or less) before you get hired here.
Getting a volunteer visa should be easy as well. Reach out to volunteer organizations, and they may be able to set something up for you. Should be easy since you're in CM.
2. Yes still in Vietnam, now I had to make a decision about trying to take a flight to go back to Chiang and have the risk of denied stamp or just stay in Vietnam but all my stuff is in Thailand.
3. I had to show my bank account but they told me that however the number of money I could have this won't make a difference
5. I would love to have kind of workpermit or volonteer Visa. From my experience it looks that it is not really easy.

1. I'm not sure what a "TV" visa is. If this is a tourist visa, I doubt Laos will issue them. I have heard reports of Laos issues Transit Visas instead. These are 30 day visas that can't be extended that basically tells a person to get their stuff and leave Thailand. So it might be a possibility.
2. She wasn't let back in, to my knowledge. She's in Vietnam, I think.
3. I doubt the embassy asked for proof of funds. It sounds like they just flipped through her passport, saw all the visas, and told her to leave.
4. Getting an ED visa won't work, they are cracking down on that.
5. Getting a Non-B visa *MAY* work, if she's willing to start a business. The easiest way to start a business for an American is through the Treaty of Amity, which allows full ownership. If she's not an American, that might not happen :\

Try to get either an ED visa with a language school or university or a B visa as a teacher (or diving instructor or...). As a Frenchwoman you might find some schools hiring French teachers.

Not going to work. They know she's gaming the system and will deny it. Unless she becomes a teacher. This is the hiring season for government schools, and she should be able to find a job easily

Another question : in the extreme situation what could happen if I order a new passport ? Is there any way to track my entrance? It will be full soon anyway so starting this procedure could be an option for me
Spending money to get a visa won't matter, if they will reject her at the border

Sarah Meyran thats an old trick no longer good. Thai Immigration uses facial recognition software and fingerprints to track all our entries and exits. And old and new passports are linked together. They know who you are....best you plan on living and working elsewhere. Unless you wish to get a legal job with work permit or buy the Thai Elite Visa 500,000 Thai baht gives you 5 Years stay in Thailand. But cannot work with it.

No worries, just leave this country where you are not appreciated in anyway. Plenty of better countries to live in. My condo building is half empty now, all foreigners left.

The biggest myth is that Thailand has become uniquely difficult on visas, and everywhere else is easy and welcoming. Yes, the Philippines is ridiculously easy. So is Cambodia. But would you actually prefer to live there? If you explore the visa regulations in a lot of these other countries, to live there full time (not to mention work) itβs no walk in the park. Plenty of time and expense involved, and hoops to jump through.
To be fair, living and working in Thailand is pretty easy. Try working in the USA Aus or UK on a tourist visa for the same amount of time. Not so easy.

Best bet is to go to Vientiane, make sure you have bank statements with a few thousand dollar or equivalent in thb, a flight ticket out of the country, you are dressed properly and don't look like a back paper plus all the other usual documents. If you don't get a 60 day tourist visa there then ask around outside the gate for a transit visa. There should be some Lao guy who can get you a 30 day transit visa. There was another post some days ago here with more details about the transit visa.
that's a pity π but sure : lesson learnt. I wish only to be able at least to pickup my stuff.. that's why even only a 30 days exempt will be enough.

Thais aren't the only countries where officials can do as they please with no reasons given.

How long did you stay outside Thailand, every time your two month tourist Visa expired?
not really. What we are seeing and hearing IF one has a history of entries and use of various visas to live and work in Thailand... they are being DENIED new visas...and questioned at at entry. Times are changing.
Kevin Mackenzie Not when you have had 2 x tourist visas and been refused a third it won't. They check the visas in the passport, so they don't care if you were out of Thailand for a day or a month ;)
it will not make a difference by staying in Vietnam 4 weeks.

Do you think if I stay in Vietnam 3 or 4 week before re-enter to Thailand it would help ? I can change for another country but I was very naive and I have all my luggage/paper/life/engagement/expensive-conference that are waiting for me overthere....

Ok so for resume :
- I may be fine with a return ticket and a 30 days visa exempt
- It would have be easier by Laos land border (but doesnt apply because I don't have a proper visa and i already crossed 2 times the border)
- I may go to Laos embassy to have a 60 days visa but as there is a lot of refuse in this moment maybe this won't help anyway
I feel that my only certaincy is that I should choose another destination than Thailand π
Thank you everyone for your help ! I will try to come back with flight in sunday. Otherwise I will discover more Vietnam
Vietnam is a marvelous country. Enjoy it until January 2020 when you could possibly cross by a land border into Thailand. But choose the border crossing carefully.
If you picked up a visa in Laos before coming back to Thailand, then yes. I'm assuming here you're from a country that makes you eligible for the 30 day visa exemption
