So I saw a discussion on another group about cash on hand to be able to enter Thailand. I thought I knew the answer to this but a google search provided many contradicting answers so I ran here to where the facts live 😊

For a visa exemption is it 10000 thb or equivalent?

For a NON-O is it 20000 or equivalent?

 They can ask for your flight departing Thailand within the number of days you are initially STAMPED in for on arrival. The day you arrive into Thailand Counts as Day #1.

Also Thai Immigration may ask to see your address where you will be staying during the initial day from your arrival.

However it's most likely your airline which may ask for PROOF of your flight departing Thailand within the number of days you are STAMPED in for on arrival.

All who enter Thailand as Visa Exempt, if ASKED by Thai Immigration Officers, AS AN INDIVIDUAL you are to show PROOF of 20,000 Thai baht / 40,000 per family, or its equivalent in foreign currency. It MUST be CASH.

Those who enter Thailand as Visa on Arrival VOA, IF ASKED are to show PROOF of 10,000 Thai baht in CASH or foreign currency.

NO ATM 🏧 located in Thai Immigration arrival. No bank statement accepted. No photo from your cell smart phone accepted.

 They don't ask anymore if you have any of the Non-immigrant Visas, e.g. Non-B (Working/Business), Non-O (Dependent), etc.

They (randomly or rarely) ask those in Tourist Visas.

 They can ask whatever they want, but there's no requirement for non-immigrant visa/extension holders to be carrying cash.

 tell that to the Thai Immigration Officer who greets you on arrival.

They may question those who in their estimation may be using various means to stay and work in Thailand ... visa exempt entry, extensions, Ed Visa or Volunteer Visa, border bounce and back to back Tourist Visas. It's their decision regarding allowing you to enter Thailand and for how long.
