Hi hopefully you guys can point me in right direction,

Couple of quick questions.

Do I need my Thai ID before I can apply for my Thai passport?

What documents will I need to prove to apply for passport ID ?

My mother is Thai but I was born and live in the UK, we have houses and land in Bangkok and surrounding areas, will this help me at all?

Thanks 🙏

TLDR : Answer Summary
To apply for a Thai passport as a person born in the UK to a Thai mother, you will need to have a Thai ID card, which may require you to register in your mother's household registration book in Thailand first. Additionally, you may need a Thai birth certificate, prove proficiency in Thai language, and possibly other specific documents as advised by the Thai Embassy in London. It's also important to be aware of potential obligations such as military service for male applicants under 30.

Need to prove you can read, write and speak Thai before you can get a Thai citizenship , ID card or passport. You’ll need a education ministerial certificate.

to be a citizen you also have to live in the country for five years consecutively having a Thai mother does not have anything to do with you as an individual person.

But my mother is Thai ?

Do you have Thai birth certificate? If yes, go back to Thailand; to your mother’s area. With two witnesses, your mother and her household registered book , asked to be added to her book and then get your Thai ID. Overseas embassy dose not issue the first time ID.

One consequence you are as male is the soldier duty. Hope you are aware of this . It’s not fully pardoned until the age of 50 , not 30.

You can get your passport from the Thai Embassy in London. Your mum will have to call them and ask what is required. If you do it in Thailand you will have to get your name in a blue house registration book first and all Thai citizens are obliged to get an ID card. My wife got our son's Thai Passport from the London embassy.

thanks Ian, I rang the embassy and didn’t get far I was told read it all up and to do it all online and at one point the lady said just google it, therefore I thought I’d join a group and talk to some like minded people, thanks for the comment much appreciated 👌🏽
