I have a question about the documentation required at Savannakhet for a non-O visa based on retirement. I am from the US.
I have posted this question on other sites but no one seems to be able to provide a clear answer.
This question is addressed to anyone who has recently gone to Savannakhet to get a non-O visa based on retirement. Information on non-O visas based on marriage or some other reason will not help as they have different requirements than the one I am looking for.
The requirements set out on the consulate web page are:
Required documents
1. Visa application form [Download] which is completely filled out and signed by the applicant
1. Original passport or travel document (must not expire within 180 days and contain at least two complete empty visa pages) and A copy of passport (The page(s) shows the applicant’s photo, name, date, and place of birth and the expiration date of passport)
1. Two (2) photos of the applicant (3.5 x 4.5 cm, taken within 6 months)
1. Bank statement (minimum of THB 800,000) or Certification of Income (minimum of THB 65,000 monthly)
1. Official letter from the concerned Embassy/Consulate of applicant's nationality
1. Visa Fee: 2,000 Baht (Single Entry)
All the requirements are clear except for No. 5. I have no idea what is meant and no one on any of the other sites I have checked seems to know what is meant either. A Thai speaker has provided a translation of item 5 from the Thai version which states: "5. Certificate of retirement from the embassy of that person with that nationality" and which is a bit different than the English version but it is still unclear. Is it a sworn statement stating that I am retired? Is it about pension income?
I have emailed the Thai consulate in Savannakhet asking about it but have received no response.
Everything else seems pretty straightforward, however, I would really appreciate any information about what form/letter you used for number 5 - and that was accepted in Savannakhet - from folks that have actually done a non-O (retirement) visa recently.
Thanks
David
