Hello from Chiang Mai I  hope everyone is well. Tomorrow is my last day on a non O based on over 50/retirement and I'm  ineligible to renew due to a tiny dip in my bank balance 8 months ago which has been fixed 7 months ago . 

My questions  are;

1, what do I need to do to apply for a covid visa tomorrow at CNX Immigration office. 

2. Can I start the entire process 90 days and in country non O again tomorrow?

One document you may be asked for (and I know for a fact Nakhom Pathom asks for it) is a letter from your embassy saying you can not return, OR;

a print out from your embassy website saying they don’t issue the letters, OR;

a print out of a letter from the embassy saying they don't issue those letters.

(Note the "ORs")

If you are American, print this out along with the other documents for your 60 day extension of stay based on unable to travel due to COVID-19; you may be asked for it.

head on over to the immigration office at the airport and apply. You'll get a 14 day under consideration stamp (you sign a paper saying you can come back in 2 weeks) and then when you go back you'll get the 60 day extension inked in

IF you were gonna apply for a retirement extension you surely have the required copies to get a covid extension.

So you failed to meet the seasoning requirements for your extension last year and as such can't apply for this years extension? (failed to keep the 800K baht in a thai bank account for 3 months after your extension was granted or failed to keep the balance above 400K baht the rest of the year)?

You can't start over, you don't need a new Non-O visa, you're still on an extension from the previous Non-O. The only way to "break the chain" would be to exit and re-enter the country

About the only thing you could do is apply for a 60 day covid extension to buy 2 more months

thanks Tod I will apply for the covid extension Is it complicated?

My account dipped below 800,000 ( 799,000) baht on the 3rd month after getting the non O and when I saw it I restored it so it's seasoned but for people's info even letting your account fall below by a few baht will make you ineligible for renewal. Lesson learned !

Sarah Kamala. When you say "on the third month" do you mean the balance dropped below 800k within the three month period after you applied for your last extension? If it's just after the three month limit it's not a problem. Also, you should first try to get the extension at your immigration office. There's always the immigration officer "discretion" which might help you. The worse that can happen is they say no, in which case you can then go on the Covid train
