Hello! Just asking out of curiosity. My husband and I came to Thailand on a 60 day tourist visa. We received the 30 day extention which ended on April 18th which was the day of our return flight. On our way through passport control, we were sent to Immigration. The officer did some searching and then said everything was okay and stamped our passports with the departure date. He said there was an "alert" but didn't go into any details. Can anyone tell me the reason for this? We're planning to return soon to retire so I don't want any surprises. Thank you!

There is also the chance that someone else with very similar information kinda matched your p/p and he was just verifying that you were not the “bad person”in question!

Just as a note: The checking flow goes - check birthday, check name and see if there are similarities needing closer scrutiny. If needed they will see every time you have passed through immigration for the past 10 year even if using a different passport.

I have been sent to the office because I was leaving on the stamp date. Not the day before. Just telling the fact . Not fiction. Entered on a tourist visa. Then 1 month extension.

As others have said, applying at home should allay any concerns. If you apply at home, they will check your history at that point and either approve or not your request. You’ll know before you’ve left your door.

 I believe that 90 more days wouldn't be an issue but if you've planned to stay longer then you need to get a proper visa

When you checked in they noticed you had stayed past your original stamp but didnt see the extention of stay and informed immigration. Obviously when Immigration saw your extention everything was fine. Same thing has happened to me.

By your posts, it looks like you were trying to stay long term but not get long term visas. They are strict about that now. Looks like you've been here since last Oct!!

 I think I started asking questions on here starting October. Our tourist visa was approved then and we came in January. The intent was to stay 90 days only so we did the 60 and the 30 day extention.

Do you have any previous history travelling in and out or longer stays in Thailand? Everything is more strict now. If you plan to retire make sure you apply for a 90 days Non O visa at home before you leave and you won’t have any issues.

 impossible to say, it could also be some error in the system and it was obviously not a big deal. It’s recommended to apply for a 90 days Non O retirement visa at home before you move anyway and this will create the basis for your future permanent stay.

 If you apply for a regular 90 days Non O retirement visa at home before you leave and yearly extension of stay in Thailand, there’s no mandatory health insurance requirement.

 do you know how it works with shipping your belongings? Do you have to wait until you receive the retirement part of the visa and you get a permit? If I understand correctly we would apply for the 90 day Non O, come to Thailand and open our bank accounts and find a place to lease. Then when that is sorted, apply for the retirement visa? If I'm following correctly, we will be in Thailand when we want to ship our things. Thank you for your help.
