TLDR : Answer Summary
To cancel your Non-ED combat visa in Thailand, first determine if you are on an initial 90-day visa or an extension of stay. Cancelling an extension requires obtaining a letter from your school indicating your last day of study, which you must present to immigration about one week prior to that date. If you need to exit the country to obtain a Non-B visa, note that exiting without a re-entry permit counts as canceling your current visa.
To cancel a Visa you exit the country without getting a re-entry permit. The likelihood is you'll need to exit to get your Non-B Visa in a neighbouring country, your employer will know that.

Are you on the initial 90 day Non-ED visa, or are you on an extension of stay? Look in your passport and see if your most recent stamp says "extension of stay."
This is important because you cannot cancel a visa, but you need to cancel an extension.
All you do is get a letter from your school stating the last day of your study and take that to immigration about a week ahead of the date on the letter. They will cancel your extension and stamp you in until that date.
you cannot get another long term extension in Thailand until you cancel your ED extension and you'll likely be fined 20,000 baht overstay for not cancelling, regardless of if you were in Thailand or not.
