TLDR : Answer Summary
The conversation discusses options for digital nomads looking to stay long-term in Thailand. Suggestions include various visas such as the Elite Visa, Education Visa, and Volunteer Visa, although clarity on the legality of working with these visas is debated. Community members share insights about 90-day visas, potential extensions, and working with organizations like Iglu and ATA Services for legal work arrangements. Overall, there's a mix of frustration and advice regarding visa processes and requirements in Thailand.

My advice is travel around Asia and just spend a few months a year in Thailand. Problem solved then.

All the people on here love Thailand ,bring money to support there families and are met with disdain, in Uk illegal people are given everything, and UK citizens treated shockingly

Form a company and have 4 employees. And or marry a Thai. If you opt for 2nd one choose carefully
if they can't figure out a visa with that setup it's natural selection.
The equivalent of whiffing on an empty net

6 month METV if you meet all the criteria for the visa...the 6 month METV will give you 9 total months in country with pre planned visa runs/border bounces..you get 90 day stamps and if you do a Out/In prior to the expiration date you get the additional 90 day stamp...there is no restrictions on how many you can get back to back...if you come from a country that’s authorized on the Melbourne Australia list they you can reapply for a follow on 6 month METV in Australia as opposed to going to your home country to apply for the visa...with the 6 month METV work is not allowed, just FYI

Is Volunteer visa a way? You register in one organization as volunteer but you don’t do anything.. isn’t this bad??
thanks for the clarification. Cause one of the agent , not sure was legal or not, explain to me , I don’t need to do anything.. I feel something wrong. Maybe he try to sell me haha
The most straightforward way is to get either Elite or ED although there are some options with Volunteer visa as well

Basically Iglu and Ata services will rent out office or working space to you, they can host your business under their business and provide you a work permit under BOI. Check with them diffrenr option, but you can work legally in Thailand.
I love Maria laugh at everything best tonic best solution xx

. I need to have dental work (implants) and am hoping I can get dentist to write me a note that will allow me to stay in Thailand during the 3-month recovery period. Dentist has said they will provide the documentation. Anyone have experience with this?
are you giving them your bank details and PIN number as well?

At a loss why anyone would want to come here given the situation, restrictions and hourly change of what is going to happen, without going into the Baht exchange rate.

You cant get a visa for being a digital nomad, get another type of visa like an education visa, multiple entry tourist visa etc.... And keep quiet about working online.
Thats the way.

You can’t get a visa to work in/from Thailand (except Volunteer visa) but Retirement, Elite, Education are all ways to live here long term pre COVID. Who knows whether they will continue to be when the country opens again.
