What are my options for extending my stay in Thailand after my tourist stamp expires?

Hello all,

My tourist stamp is due on the next week and I am trying to figure out my options to stay in the country for 90 more days. Hope you guys can give me some advice.

Info:

Nationality: Brazil

Entry: 28 Jun (was given 90 days upon arrival)

Extension: 23 Sep - 24 Nov @ Suratthani immigration office.

As I moved to Khao Lak (and landlord already reported to immigration), I will go to Phang-Nga office.

By the way, does anybody have experience going to this office?

I appreciate your help. Thanks!

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user seeks advice on extending their stay in Thailand after their tourist stamp expires, particularly regarding options available at the Phang-Nga immigration office. They entered Thailand on a tourist visa allowing 90 days and have already extended once. A suggestion is made that they might qualify for an additional 60-day extension due to COVID-19 restrictions, necessitating the same documentation as before.

You entered on a 90 day bi-lateral agreement. Your only option to extend is with a 60 day extension of stay based on unable to travel due to COVID-19. You will need to submit the same documents as you submitted the last time.

You might be better off asking that question on one of the islander groups.

Thank you for the clarification.

I was wondering if I could extend my visa (?) for 30 days, which would allow me until ~20 Dec and from then try the Covid extention. Do you think that would be possible?

Just so I understand: am I not considered under a tourist visa even after my 1st & only extension? Sorry if it's a silly question. Thank you again

You do not have a visa, you entered on a bilateral agreement. You can NOT get a 30 day extension of stay based on a bilateral agreement.

No you are not. If you look in your passport, under your "admitted to" stamp, you would see something that looks like this:

ผผ90

That is a 90 day bilateral agreement stamp. In pre-COVID-19 times, you'd have to leave after 90 days.

@Benjamin *****
- sorry to interrupt, but what is a “ bilateral agreement “ that makes you stay for 90 days ?

Passport holders from different nations can stay in Thailand for different amounts of time. For people holding Brazil passports, they are stamped in for 90 days under something known as a "bilateral agreement". This is an agreement the Thai government has with the Brazil government, where Thais can enter Brazil for 90 days without a visa, and Brazilians can enter Thailand for 90 days without an agreement.

However, this bilateral entry can not be extended (in normal, non-COVID-19 times)

I'm attaching what I think is the latest visa on arrival/ visa exempt/ bilateral agreement chart.

For the OP, the last day is November 24th, because that's when his current extension of stay expires
