Should i apply on a website or walk in to an embassy?

I see this has been done both by different youtuber.

I will be going to Cambodia to re-enter Thailand, so it going to be a Thai Embassy in Phnom Penh.

.

Im also collecting my Documents.

.

✅ Proof of cash, I have a bank statement showing 300k AUD under my personal name. [not business name]

✅ Proof of employment - Im writing a letter to prove that I work for myself.

.

✅ Proof of Current location- Im actually unsure of this. it could be my hotel in Cambodia once booked.

✅ Passport and Photo. those are easy to get on that day.

Question

1- does anyone has any experience with the phnom penh embassy?

2- is my letter good enough?

3- should I go to Cambodia and apply thru embassy or do online , or will there any difference?

- So over the last 6 months, each embassy has been moving to the online system. Cambodia switched back in October. Taiwan, which is where this YouTuber went 4 weeks ago, switched over last week. As of the new year, all Thai embassies have switched to evisa. You still have to be present in that country to apply via the embassy, but you no longer have to show up in person (several do still require you to pay in person though).

- No, not at all. The evisa system still requires you to be in the country where you are applying. The change is, if I am applying via the Taiwan consulate, I need to be in Taiwan, but instead of going to the consulate in person, I can do it online. They will ask for proof that I am in Taiwan, and maybe if selected, an in person interview.

Any idea how long it take,? Because i imagine you are unable to buy a return ticket back to Thailand unless it approved.

it varies by embassy. Cambodia is 10 business days. Vietnam is 5

each embassy has a different time length. It also depends on your nationality. For example, Vietnam is roughly 5 businesses days while Cambodia is 10 business days (I argue that the requirements via Cambodia are easier and therefore worth the extra time). Embassies in the USA take 3+ weeks

There is no more "walk into an embassy" as all Thai embassies have converted to the e-visa system. All applications are now submitted online.

You're still required to be inside that country when you apply through the embassy there, and you'll need to prove that you are physically there, usually by uploading a photo of the entry stamp in your passport.

any way to apply for someone currently already staying in Thailand? Or definitely have to get out of Thailand first, apply while in another country, only to return to Thailand? It seems counter intuitive, no?

that's like asking if you can apply at an embassy that still requires you walk up and apply in person while you're in Thailand. The rules haven't changed that you still have to be in that country to apply, just the way you apply has changed.

so if the applicant is residing in Thailand and wants to stay in Thailand, he still has to get out of the country first to get that Visa in another country before he can come back in again?

depends on the visa. Some visas can be issued by immigration inside of Thailand if you qualify to convert, but some are only available from embassies.
