Is It Normal to Be Charged 2000 Baht for an Immigration Visit in Thailand?

I'm changing from over 50 visa to marriage to Thai , everything ok and now waiting to return to immigration office for visa stamp next month. Received phone call to say I will get visit from io today and have to pay 2000b when they arrive. Is this normal practice as I checked in numerous sites and 2 immigration offices and found no mention of this charge.

Just wondering .

if immigration want to go on a road trip, the gasoline and salaries are paid by the Government. If somebody comes to your house ask ID cards and if they want money, first ask an official bill or receipt.
