Just a quick one regarding showing the 20,000 Baht proof of funds should an IO ask to see it when arriving and just getting a 30 day stamp. Would they accept it if I showed over 20k in my Thai bank account using the bank's app on my phone or would they insist on seeing cash?

TLDR : Answer Summary
When entering Thailand and needing to provide proof of funds, it is required to show cash rather than a bank balance from an app. Multiple comments confirm that immigration officials only accept cash as proof of funds, specifically citing a minimum requirement of 20,000 Baht.
it does believe me I know, BUT there's almost no rhyme or reason to who they single out :/ I know people with a passport FULL of 30 day visa exempt entries that NEVER get questioned flying in and I know people with a tourist visa and 2 visa exempt entries who get the 3rd degree grilling
actually let's take a look at the numbers, thailand expects 35 million arrivals this year, that's over 95 THOUSAND people stamping in every day.
Of all those people only a very few get denied entry AND most of those are abusing the visa exempt or tourist visa programs to some extent or did abuse the system before trying to switch to another visa type :/ I honestly don't think more than 20-30 people per week get denied entry at BOTH bangkok airports combined. .

Better withdraw from atm and keep cash. Why you need take risk.
correctly stated, when you need to show proof of funds at a thai consulate to BUY a visa you show banked money and when you need to show proof of funds when stamping IN to the country you show CASH.

No. Cash only at the border.

When crossing thai borders, they want to see cash, not bank account. When at consulate they want bank account not cash.
