TLDR : Answer Summary
The approval time for the DTV eVISA when applying from Hong Kong is generally quoted as 7 working days, but applicants must have a right of residence in Hong Kong. Experiences shared include approvals in 3 to 5 days, and one case took a week after a reapplication due to initial rejection. Tourists without residency in Hong Kong may face difficulties in getting the application approved.

Applied in hk twice. 1 - regected due to my stupidity in 4 days (I am a resident), reapplied again and got approved within a week (they asked for more documents once; soft power, dental)

Don't Apply for the DTV visa in Hong Kong unless you are a resident of HK... which you are NOT šŸš«.

and do you legally LIVE/work in Hong Kong? because as a tourist there you aren't gonna get it approved and just waste the money for the application

@Tod ********
does it only apply to HK? If Iā€™m from Hong Kong, can I do it in Vietnam instead?

@Gigi ***
almost any other country in Asia except the thai consulates in Hong Kong, Singapore, China or Japan šŸ˜®

No issue at all going to Vietnam as a tourist and applying there

as someone else has said you must apply to a Thai Embassy in a country where you have permanent residency.

@Nelson *****
not necessarily. Look at the Thai Embassy or Consulate website where you are going to apply for the DTV visa for their requirements.

Took me 3 days to get it approved applying from Brazil.

Their website quotes 7 working days BUT it also says it only processes applications from those with a right of residence in Hong Kong. Assuming you do and they process your application you need to remain there until the process completes

5 days for me
