Has anyone done the E-visa from the USA for 90 day Tourist Visa? I usually just come for 30 and extend. But I want to spend more time there this Winter (Jan-March). My understanding is that the 90 day window begins the date the approve on-line, not the day you arrive. I also understand that you can upload Passport now on-line. So it sounds like I should wait as long as possible, just a week or so before I leave to begin the process. I am just looking for advice from experienced users. Thank you.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The E-visa for Thailand allows for a 90-day Tourist Visa, beginning the day it is approved online. Travelers have 3 months after approval to enter Thailand, receiving an initial 60-day stamp upon arrival, which can be extended by an additional 30 days at a Thai Immigration office for 1900 baht, totaling 90 days. For longer stays, a multiple entry tourist visa (METV) can be a good option, allowing stays of up to 9 months with border runs. Approval times vary, with some users reporting quick processing from Thai consulates.

Jerry, I just applied and got mine from thr LA office all within 4 days. Fill out the form for a 60 day visa correctly and you should hear back within a week. Once yo7 are in Thailand and near the end of the 60 days you can apply for 30 more days. You will have 90 days then. When you get your 60 day visa, you have 90 days to travel to Thailand.

I have done what James described a couple of times and it worked great. Got my retirement Visa this time.
Once the Thai tourist visa is approved using the Evisa online application system, you have 3 MONTHS to enter Thailand.
Upon arrival into Thailand , you will STAMPED in for 60 days...
And you can get a 30 day extension of stay at the Thai Immigration office for 1900 Thai baht.
That's a total of 90 days.
IF you want to stay LONGER...then apply for the METV multiple entry tourist visa. With planning it can get you up to 9 months stay in Thailand with a couple simple land BORDER BOUNCE entries.
you are allowed a maximum of 2 Visa Exempt Entry LAND BORDER BOUNCE entries into Thailand EACH CALENDAR YEAR. Plus One 30 day extension of stay at Thai Immigration office for 1900 Thai baht for each Visa Exempt Entry into Thailand.
