I'm trying to fill out the application for a non O visa (for retirement), not easy. Date of arrival in Thailand โ do I just estimate given that the visa will be valid for 90 days once issued? Travelling by and Flight no โ also do I estimate? Is retirement classed as tourism? Name and address of local guarantor โ who is this? Countries for which passport is valid? World? The Embassy's covering letter also requests insurance for duration of stay which will be 90 days, or will it? as the visa is for 60 days renewable in-country. And start date of insurance? Should I book a one way ticket? Also, how long does it normally take an embassy to process the visa? Sorry for all the questions and many thanks in advance

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking guidance on completing a Non-O visa application for retirement in Thailand. Key questions include how to estimate their date of arrival, the required flight details, whether retirement is classified under tourism, what to provide for a local guarantor, and specifics about insurance requirements. Answers indicate that estimating dates and flight numbers is acceptable, retirement can be classified as tourism, and insurance must cover at least 30 days. The processing time for the visa is typically 3 to 5 working days, though it can take up to 15 days.

It's NOT a race don't feel you need to burn thru it, you can stop, save the pending application and come back to it. The mistakes are what's gonna slow your process down.
Most people get approved in 3 to 5 working days but the websites say it can take up to 15 days.
Don't make it any harder than it is, believe me it is NOT brain science or rocket surgery. Go slow, understand what they're asking and requiring, meet those requirements and you'll be fine.

OR
Just get a single entry tourist visa, come here, get the bank account opened, get your funds in and go apply for the in country 90 day Non-O visa and then the year extension after that like a LOT of people are doing to get around the mandatory insurance requirement .
Thanks. Really helpful. All ok except I'm not keen on paying insurance up to possibly 90 days before i travel When you say single entry tourist visa, is this the same as visa exempt for 30 days? Is it extendable?
nope a visa exempt entry means you washed up here with NO visa in your passport and were allowed in FREE for 30 days
A tourist visa you BUY from the thai consulate in your country before you wing your way here and when you show up you're stamped in for 60 days
BOTH a 30 day visa exempt and a 60 day tourist visa entry can be extended ONCE for 30 more days.
I just said get a single entry tourist visa because it gives you 90 days to get your act together bank account, document, etc wise so you have time left to go apply for the 90 day Non-O visa at the immigration office
