I am in the UK and from the UK. I want to apply for the retirement visa while in the UK. Having a problem trying to find which Government dep will supply proof of uk pension. All searching goes to consular out side of uk.
Advice from UK members would be appreciated.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A UK resident seeking to apply for a retirement visa in Thailand is looking for guidance on obtaining proof of their UK pension. The relevant advice from the community suggests contacting HMRC for pension documentation and recommends using a bank statement showing state pension payments as proof. There is also a discussion on the differences between the Non-O and Non-O-A visas, with the Non-O-A providing longer stays but requiring more documentation.
NON-O RETIREMENT VISA RESOURCES / SERVICES
Go to the Retirement Visa Section for information on requirements, including age restrictions, financial requirements, and necessary documentation.
For immediate assistance, contact Thai Visa Centre directly via LINE at @ThaiVisaCentre or Email them.
Explore recent discussions by using the Non-O Retirement Visa tag in the search box at the top of the page.
Having a multi entry non o-a visa means pretty much total freedom to come and go to Thailand without worrying whether you have to make a trip specifically for a stamp renewal (except at the end of the first year to be able to stay a further year). It requires more paperwork in the beginning but worth it for the lack of worry later.
Depends where you are staying, many immigration offices do not use the online system.

only once in person. Then can be done on line.

You just need a bank statement showing a state pension payment (DWP). That's all I supplied for a successful application for a Non-Imm 'O' based on retirement in November, last year, at the London embassy.

No, there is more to it than that, I think. You need to provide more for an O-A, such as a criminal check. The 'O' based on retirement is minimal documentation. Proof of pension is the main requirement. Others more qualified than me can answer this question. Edit: Someone just has.

Big difference is that the Non Immigrant O visa is multiple entry for 1 year but gives you sessions of 90 days of stay, than have to do a border run till end of visa, the Non Immigrant O-A visa is also multiple entry but gives you on every entry 1 year of stay till end of visa, so this one actually gives you 2 years of stay inside Thailand.

If yes you can apply for the Non Immigrant O visa based on being over 50 years, but you need: For pensioner : A copy of pension statement if the applicant is a pensioner or a copy of 1 month bank statement showing your income from pension. Or you can apply for the Non Immigrant O-A visa and than you only need proof of finance on a bank account. Just read the requirements here, scroll down to Non Immigrant O and Non Immigrant O-A visa:
