I got the DTV in 2 weeks! After 2 successive uploads of supplemental documents and 1 in-person interview, I received the DTV Visa the next day.

My business is registered in the U.S. I wrote employment contracts and permission letters to myself. If anyone is in a similar situation, please feel free to ask for any guidance needed.

Hey I have a question. If I am in the US. Headed back to Thailand tomorrow and wanted to fill out the DTV tonight. Will I have to go somewhere in person?

Tamar Rocker You cannot apply for it in Thailand. It needs to be at an overseas Thai consulate. Taiwan is the easiest for Americans. You can enter visa free, they are time efficient, and the staff is friendly.

If you apply in the States and if they require an in-person interview and you are outside the U.S. and NOT in Thailand, they will require an official certificate of entry to the country you are outside of Thailand.

I am in the US I just submitted my application. I head back to BANGKOK tomorrow hopefully I don't have to do anything in person in the US

I sent them a screenshot of my location. Hopefully that was enough to show them that I am in the US

Tamar Rocker It doesn't work that way... Our friend got an interview to precisely make sure he was in the country of application.

Tamar Rocker it’s not enough. They would want an official record of location, like utility bill or an immigration certificate of entry.

Finally what are the final documents to provide related to the US LLC ?

(1) 6 months of PERSONAL bank statements showing income from the business to yourself.

(2) 6 months of BUSINESS bank statements showing payment to yourself.

(3) IRS EIN doc to show you own the biz

(4) Employment contract, from the biz to yourself (the employee)

(5) Permission letter from the biz to yourself saying you have permission to work abroad for a period of 5 years from (the date you apply for the DTV)

(6) PERSONAL bank statements showing you have $15k in cash. I printed 6 months of the summary page of my brokerage account. I liquidated $15k junk bonds into cash. I included the total account summary to show I have more assets than the cash.

(7) 6 months of client invoices, as additional evidence of your biz operations.

(8) Printed out the About Us page of my website, as my professional portfolio.

(9) My resume, the latest job title consistent with employment contract & permission letter.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any questions. Good luck!

In person? Seriously?

Yes, it happens. That's why you need to stay in the country of application.

Anonymous participant 184 Yes, good point. Assume, there will be follow up requests like an in-person interview.

They made me go to Taiwan Immigration to print my record of entry. This was to show proof of location. I think the interview was also for them to see I was a legitimate applicant.

It was also an opportunity for me to impress upon the section chief my intentions of workation and greet & thank her in Thai.

, Yes, went to Taipei thinking the application was offline in person. After all docs were submitted online, they requested for an in-person interview, which I prefer, as it’s easier to get feedback on any missing items. After the interview, I got the DTV the next day.
