Anyone know of a visa agent in Kanchanaburi. I am discovering the gulf between immigration who want a bank account with money in it and banks who won't let you have an account without a visa. I need someone with the ability to break the circle.

TLDR : Answer Summary
An expat seeking a visa agent in Kanchanaburi has expressed frustration over the requirement for a Thai bank account to obtain a visa, while banks deny account openings without a visa. Suggestions from the community include traveling to Bangkok or Pattaya to use an agent, particularly Bangkok Bank, as well as leveraging connections with reputable locals who can facilitate the process. One commenter successfully obtained banking services by securing proof of residency from immigration, which was essential for opening an account.

In the end it was the same in Kanchanaburi, but getting the Proof of Residency letter from immigration took a bit, after that Bangkok Bank came to the party.

Thanks for the comments and suggestions, the circle has finally been broken without leaving Kanchanaburi.

Agree, visa agents will ‘break the deadlock’. Alternatively, if you know a Thai person of repute (school teachers are especially useful), they may be able to persuade a bank branch to open an account for you.

This is definitely the most difficult part of the visa process.
Bangkok bank was the only one that would open an account for me, have you tried there (silly question I guess).

Take a trip down to Bangkok or Pattaya for a few days and get yourself an agent and they can do it same day for small fee with Bangkok Bank and Bangkok Bank is everywhere in the country so you'd be covered
