TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires about changing their visa status from a Non-B (business) visa to either a tourist visa or a Covid visa. They indicate that their visa expires on October 31, but their work permit will be canceled on October 15. A comment suggests that they should visit the immigration office on October 15 to cancel their current visa and apply for a 60-day extension due to inability to travel because of COVID-19. Further details on the requirements can be searched in the relevant group.
ASSUMING YOU HAVE A ONE YEAR EXTENSION Of Stay BASED ON EMPLOYMENT:
On October 15th, you will go to the immigration office and cancel your one year extension of stay based on employment. You will apply for a 60 day extension of stay based on Unable to travel due to COVID-19.
I’m on my phone and don’t have access to my database. If you search the group for “60 day extension of stay based on unable to travel due to COVID-19 “ my list of requirements should appear
Thank you for the info. Am I able to do the 60 days extension on the same day as the cancellation? Will it be processed on the same day? I was told it takes 15 days to process the covid visa.

Yes you can. You will ask for a 60 day extension of stay based on unable to travel due to COVID-19.
>Will it be processed on the same day?
At MOST immigration offices, you will be given an "under consideration" stamp. This "under consideration" stamp is like a temporary extension of stay. You will need to return to the immigration office that issued the under consideration stamp to close it out.
>I was told it takes 15 days to process the covid visa
For immigration offices that issue the under consideration stamps, it can take between 7 to 30 days, depending on the immigration office and their workload.
you can apply for cancellation your current extension then apply for 60days so-called Covid extension immediately on that day.
It depends on the immigration office if you would get a full 60days stamp or under-consideration stamp first following an immigration office visit in about a couple of weeks.
