look at the desk next time you stamp into the country they have a PILE of stampers (it's one reason that people get stamped in wrong). :O :/

They have the ผ.30 (30 day visa exempt stamp)

A date stamp with 15 days, one with 30, one with 90, and then they either hand write or use a moveable date stamp for people on year O-A's or yearly extensions (that have a variable date of expiration)

I've had one or two "unfortunate" border crossings (not in Thailand) and there is just this lingering effect every time I cross a border.

why would you be nervous? Almost 90 THOUSAND people stamp into thailand every DAY, believe me they're just passport-stamping, paper-pushing low level government employees doing a thankless job of stamping people in and out :(

yep, when you stamp IN to the country the badge number of the officer is written in the border of the stamp.

. I'm sure that happens all the time. I always scrutinise the entry before leaving the immigration area. It's so easy to get it rectified there and then. Once you've cleared immigration it's a pain to get it fixed.

I just thought about it because of the times when someone gets stamped in wrong

. Strange question! The entry date would be fixed but the "admitted until" date would vary. My last entry, because I'm stamped in for one year was hand-written, possibly because there wouldn't be too many year admits and this saves the IO messing around during busy times.

does the IO have one stamper and then changes the date for each specific Visa?

Or does he/she have several different stampers?

And of course the dates are changed every day
