Hello, I think I have a rather simple question regarding the O Visa but can't see an answer by searching the forum.
- My husband and I are both over the age of 50.
- We are UK Citizens
- We are planning to come to Thailand in April on a visa exemption with a plan of obtaining the O Visa while there
Question :
Do we need to have 800,000 Thai Baht in a Thai Bank each to obtain the visa or 800,000 total between us?
Sorry for asking a basic question but hopefully should be a quick answer for one of you lovely people.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The question is about the financial requirements for obtaining an O Visa in Thailand for UK citizens over 50 years old. Responses indicate that each spouse must have 800,000 Baht in their individual Thai bank accounts, or alternatively, they may use a joint account if the total equals 1.6 million Baht. It's suggested to consider applying for a 90-day Non-O visa before coming to Thailand.

The ONLY way to do it given the way you want to go about it (coming here visa exempt and then applying for in country 90 day Non-O visas at the immigration office after you're here) would be for each of you to have 800K baht in a thai bank account in your name only transferred in from abroad before you apply for the Non-O visas.
SOME offices will allow a joint account IF the balance is double the requirement (half being yours / half being your husbands in their eyes).
