Do I need a visa to enter Australia for 4 weeks with a British passport?

Hi. I am currently in Thailand on a extended tourist visa. When this expires I am thinking of heading out to Sydney, Australia, for about 4 weeks. Being from the Uk. And holding a British passport. Would I need to apply for a visa to enter for this length of time…

TLDR : Answer Summary
Yes, as a British passport holder, you will need to apply for a visa to enter Australia, even for a stay of 4 weeks. The recommended visa is the Electronic Travel Authority (ETA), which costs $20 and can be applied for online. The process is typically quick, with immediate confirmation from Australian immigration. Make sure to use the official immigration website to avoid scammers.

Direct flights out of Bali or Singapore to tropical Cairns. Fly in in or out of Sydney and road trip up or down the east coast of Australia. No back tracking.

that's a great idea but I don't think 4 weeks is long enough to cover it. There is so much to see and do on the east coast of Aus and that trip is 2600km 😊

yeah you are probably right. Could do Cairns ( best spot in Oz) Airlie beach, Sunshine Coast, maybe Gold coast ( not a fan) somewhere on the northern NSW coast, Sydney and Melbourne maybe. Bit of a whirlwind tour off the top of my head of a bit of the east coast. 4 weeks in Sydney would be my idea of hell, but I am an older being. Young people would love it I am sure. Gotta do what fits you. Me personally would do a month Cairns, mission beach, Daintree, waterfall circuit up on the tablelands and Kuranda, head up to Cooktown, Great Barrier Reef and one of the islands.😁Gee I sound like a bit of a travel agent for cairns hey? Best place in Oz.
