TLDR : Answer Summary
To obtain a Non-B visa for teaching in Thailand, you must first secure a job offer from a school. A signed contract with the school is necessary to apply for the Non-B visa or an Extension of Stay based on employment.
A Non-B visa is acquired after you get a job. You will need a signed contract from a school before a Non-B or an Extension of Stay based on employment is acquired.
There currently is only *ONE* immigration office that is doing a conversion from amnesty to a Non-B visa, however schools are trying to get the immigration office to change their policies.
My advice is to get a teaching job is to hit up the teaching job websites, go and visit schools in person, and try to get hired.
You *CAN NOT* work on amnesty or without a work permit however.
You'd get an extension of stay based on employment from the immigration office once you're hired, AND if the immigration office is willing to convert an amnesty to an extension of stay based on employment.
