Does the UK's mandatory quarantine mean I can reasonably expect to qualify for an "unable to travel" Covid visa extension? I'm here on a visa exemption at the moment, already extended 30 days.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The individual is inquiring whether the UK's mandatory quarantine requirements could allow them to qualify for an "unable to travel" Covid visa extension while currently on a visa exemption in Thailand. Responses indicate that applying for the extension before September 27th may be key, with several comments suggesting that many British travelers have successfully received similar extensions. There are also discussions regarding the financial implications of the UK’s quarantine policies and how these could affect one’s ability to return home, which might be relevant for the visa extension application.
Should have included in my original question that the UK's quarantine is extremely expensive. To the extent that some British travellers may genuniely find themselves in serious financial difficulties (£2285, that's well over 100 days in my current AirBnb in Phuket and perhaps double what many would budget for an entire 14 day holiday to Thailand from the UK).

No, you can still travel there. Presumably you also would've done mandatory quarantine to enter Thailand. However, your application is unlikely to be refused anyway provided you provide them with whatever documentation they require.

This may have an impact on your plan.... sounds good news initially, but...
and they could decide not to extend the COVID extensions

I don't think you could pawn that off on them as reason why you can't go back to where you come from 😕 I mean you CAN buy a ticket and leave. How are the issues you'd go thru in your country in any way thailand's fault 😛
Still with that being said, they're handing out the 60 day covid extensions pretty easily (as in the bar is set extremely low right now) BUT keep in mind IF you're gonna apply for a 60 day covid extension you need to do it before the 27th of Sept when the program is set to run out.
its just a way of brits avoiding going back to the Uk there is no reason they cannot fly home they just don’t want to go back, can’t blame them to be honest

Yes... And whilst land boarders are closed just get an " unfit to fly" medical letter. Can't fly cannot leave- automatic extension
