Can I extend my stay using the 6-month multi-entry tourist visa in Thailand up to 9 months?

Hello, I have few questions about the 6 months multi-entry tourist visa...

As I understand, the 180 days start from the day you are granted the VISA (ie. the day you get your passport to thai embassy) and for this period you are given 60 days every time you show up at a border (airport or land). Only rule: each visit shouldn't last longer than 60 days...

1. Do you get 60 days also if you enter the country the last day of your VISA (i.e. 179 days after you were granted it)?

2. Can you extend this VISA at Immigration office? I mean beyond the initial 180 days... (this would seem to clash with the 'only' rule as above)

I'm trying to understand if timing my visaruns and extensions wisely I can get to stay almost 9 months with a single VISA.

Thanks in advance for your help.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The 6-month multi-entry tourist visa (METV) allows multiple entries into Thailand, giving potentially up to 9 months of stay. Each entry grants 60 days; upon nearing the end, a visa run can help extend the stay. Queries include whether one receives the 60 days on the last day of VISA validity and the possibility of extending beyond the initial 180 days. Responses confirm you can get 60 days if entering on the last day and also extend the final entry by 30 days for a fee, allowing for a total stay of nearly 9 months.

IF you have a 6 month METV you can get almost 9 months of stay out of the visa itself.

You get it as close to when you're comin' to thailand as you can (because it starts losing validity the date it's issued).

You enter get 60 days

when that is running out you exit/re-enter get another 60 days

when that is running out you exit/re-enter get another 60 days

when the VISA is almost going to expire you exit/re-enter and get your final 60 days taking you to about 240 days (8 months)

Then you extend that last entry by 30 days at the immigration office for 1900baht taking you to almost 270 days (9 months).

One more thing for FYI if your passport is on the approved list of countries you can go to Perth Australia to get an additional 6 month METV instead of returning to your home country...

It goes live the day it’s put in your passport....you can either do a Out/In for 60 days or you can pay ฿1,900 for a 30 day extension....yes you do get an additional 60 days if you do an Out/In prior to the last date on your visa and then you can extend that for an additional 30 days for ฿1,900 at the immigration office....
