Hello, I have few questions about the 6 months multi-entry tourist visa...
As I understand, the 180 days start from the day you are granted the VISA (ie. the day you get your passport to thai embassy) and for this period you are given 60 days every time you show up at a border (airport or land). Only rule: each visit shouldn't last longer than 60 days...
1. Do you get 60 days also if you enter the country the last day of your VISA (i.e. 179 days after you were granted it)?
2. Can you extend this VISA at Immigration office? I mean beyond the initial 180 days... (this would seem to clash with the 'only' rule as above)
I'm trying to understand if timing my visaruns and extensions wisely I can get to stay almost 9 months with a single VISA.
Thanks in advance for your help.
TLDR : Answer Summary
The 6-month multi-entry tourist visa (METV) allows multiple entries into Thailand, giving potentially up to 9 months of stay. Each entry grants 60 days; upon nearing the end, a visa run can help extend the stay. Queries include whether one receives the 60 days on the last day of VISA validity and the possibility of extending beyond the initial 180 days. Responses confirm you can get 60 days if entering on the last day and also extend the final entry by 30 days for a fee, allowing for a total stay of nearly 9 months.
