Can I change my visa from Non-B to Non-O based on marriage without leaving Thailand?

Hi Tod . Just updating you on my progress so that it can benefit others in the same situation . I made a trip to immigration in Chaengwattana to ask what other docs I needed as I had to go there to renew my Thai wife’s passport anyway .As you correctly mentioned , I need a letter from my employer . The letter must state that I am currently employed by them . Immigration also said that I need to show them evidence of paying taxes. A documents called a ‘por ngor dor’ She warned me that some employers are not willing to so . Since I recently changed my tourist visa to a Non B for employment , she thinks it might piss them off if I then wish to change that a Non O with extension based on marriage . The fact is that getting a Non B and work permit didn’t cost my employer anything as I had to pay for it myself . So my next question is , ‘is my employer legally obliged to provide the letter and ‘por ngor dor’ if I request it ? ‘ As far as my workplace is concerned, I’m already working for them legally so it is of no benefit to them to provide those documents

When I had entered Thailand on the 3 month tourist visa I wasn’t legally married yet . Also Imy 400,000 was a joint account with my wife . All of it has to be in one single account

most employers will tell you that you need to leave the country but if you have enough time left on your tourist visa and the right paperwork , it can be done . My university had to prepare a work contract and a letter written by the Dean confirming that he intended to hire me . I also had to get my embassy to verify that my degree was legit . If I had known it was gonna be this lengthy , I would have just left the country with the required paperwork and re-entered

No . I read up on the internet and did things through trial and error . But basically I applied for a 3 month tourist visa by going to Laos and then gathered all the documents from my workplace , British embassy etc . It was a long a painful process . Hopefully getting a non o marriage visa will be less painful
