Question I just can't find the answer to: if I marry my Thai gf and get a non o and the 1 year extension.... am I then eligible to apply for a work permit/job? I can't see if this is all that required after I have the non o?

TLDR : Answer Summary
Yes, if you marry your Thai girlfriend and obtain a Non-O visa with a one-year extension, you are eligible to apply for a work permit. Regardless of being married, you must still secure a work permit to legally work in Thailand. It is essential to have the necessary documents from your employer, along with relevant papers from your wife and your own identification.

You don't need to get a job within 3 months (while still on the Non-O) :/
you can get a job on the yearly extension and still get a work permit.

If you want to work in Thailand, then you have to get a workpermit, no matter if you are married or what. That doesn't matter.

Do all the same rules apply for the work permit on a non O as apposed to a non B, like degree, financials etc?

It goes without saying that you FIRST need to get a job so the employer can give you the documents to go apply for a work permit. Just having a non-o and a yearly extension based on marriage doesn't get you a work permit :/

A Work Permit is not a Visa - it is a separate document issued by the Labor Ministry. There is an intertwine between - traditionally a B Visa and a B Visa Extension and a WP, but as has been said certain Extensions of Stay on O Visas can get a Work Permit.
You will need minimum a NON-O visa, and the workplace normally supply you with the Work Permit. And you will have to have a job, before you can get the Work Permit. But just contact the place you have a job, and then they supply you with the WP. Thats normal.
