Hi. We will be visiting Malaysia but intend to apply for Non-ed visas for our children to study in Thailand.
1. Can I apply for non-ed thai visa from Malaysia or do I need to go back to my home country?
2. What kind of visa will the parents need to apply for?
3. How long does it take for the visas to be issued?
TIA

TLDR : Answer Summary
The poster intends to apply for Non-Ed visas for their children while visiting Malaysia and has questions about the application process and requirements for parents. Responses indicate that it is possible to apply for a Non-Ed visa from Malaysia, with required documents available on the relevant consulate's website. Parents can apply for a Non-O guardian visa, requiring proof of 500,000 THB in a bank account for extensions. The typical processing time is about one day, with collection the following afternoon, accounting for working days.

KL is awesome. So many parks and walking trails. The food is delicious and the people are friendly

Forgot part 3. Usually they work on the system of applying for the visa in the morning of day one, and you collect in the afternoon of day 2 (working days only - be aware the embassy/consulates will be closed on Thai and Malay holidays).
that's great info. Thanks again. Looked on their website, can't seem to find much info on requirements đ. If you find it, could you please share it?
thank you..So im guesding the bank balance of 500k per parent needs to be shown after 90 days if extending? And its ok to apply in KL even though we will be there on a tourist visa (not residents of Malaysia)?
Yes. You can apply there. Funds need to be shown after the 90 days. KL may need proof of funds at the time of issuing the initial non O visa for the parents but this can be from your home bank account and doesnât have to be in a Thai bank (although it could). Their check list will cover whatâs needed.

You can apply for a non Ed visa in KL for your children. Go on to their website and they have a checklist of documents required. Their school will need to supply some of them.
As parents you may apply for a non O âguardianâ visa. Only one parent may do so per child. This will give you 90 days on arrival. You can extend that to a year (or at least until your childâs allowed to stay date) in country providing you have 500k in a bank in your name only. 1st application it needs to have been in one month. Subsequent applications 3 months.
The 500k is each per parent wanting an extension (providing you have two children or more at school).
