If one partner is employed in Thailand when a couple has a baby, can the baby get a visa, and then the other parent get a guardian visa based on the baby's visa?
Or are guardian visas only for parents of children who are enrolled in a school?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The conversation discusses the complexities of obtaining a visa for a child born in Thailand when only one parent is employed there. It clarifies that guardian visas are typically available only to parents of children enrolled in school, and complications arise for same-sex couples due to non-recognition of their marriage in Thailand. While an employed parent on a Non-B visa may facilitate a visa for the child, the other parent may not be able to obtain a guardian visa based solely on the child's visa.
nope, talk to some schools and see what they say, probably could do it when they enrolled in kindergarten

Thanks - we're married but a same-sex couple so it's not recognised either

If your partner is working and has a long term Non B you (and the child) could get a visa off the back of that. You’d need the cooperation of your partners employer. This is assuming you are married. Civil partnerships are not recognised in Thailand.
have you ever seen or heard of same sex marriages (which is not yet recognized in thailand) get 'trailing spouse/family' extensions inside the country?
I know they can buy visas from thai consulates in some countries but I don't ever recall anyone saying they were able to get an extension
