According to the Thai Embassy's website in London, ALQ (alternative LOCAL Quaritines) are now open in Chonburi. Apparently you can flying into BKK and take a quarantine taxi to a Pattaya ALQ? Have I missed the news?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion reveals that Alternative Local Quarantines (ALQs) are indeed available in Chonburi for travelers arriving at Bangkok airport. Individuals can take a quarantine taxi to a Pattaya ALQ upon landing. The conversation covers various experiences and opinions regarding quarantine options, transportation logistics, and the current travel situation from the UK to Thailand during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Yes my brother is booked for the Bella hotel in Pattaya

Pattaya has been where lots of Thais have doing there state quarantine and maybe the number of Thais wanting to return home is now dwindling

Jail is jail, doesn't matter where it is. You're right, too late to change.

Looks like there is 587 ALQ rooms in Pattaya according to UK embassy site.

What on earth is a Quarantine taxi? Only this was left 😁

Travel to Thailand from the Uk just now - haha. What’s the point unless you’re rich

you might not be rich, but you’ve clearly got £12,800 lying in an account for the last six months, and obviously prepared to pay the 40,000 baht or more that it will cost for ALSQ quarantine. Personally, I think I’ll wait it out until some of those measures are relaxed.
Jim ********
@Spencer ******
yeh I have but that doesn’t mean I’m rich. Just means I’m not poor. Everything will be relaxed eventually and you just need to be patient

Money is a very relative term. I certainly wouldn't call a middle aged person 12k in their bank account "rich." A teenager living at home could make that over the summer, an Uber driver could make that in a couple months.
Spencer *******
@Jim *******
I’ll wait it out. I’m taking about 5 grand out there to get set up with living costs etc. Last thing I want to do is blow half that on just getting in 🙁
Jim ********
@Spencer ******
yeh 100%. How long you planning on staying for? And you gonna work when your there?
Spencer *******
@Jim *******
yeah mate. No real plans on how long exactly but I’m thinking 6 months, a year, maybe longer. I’ll teach English online or in the classroom to make money. Might head to Cambodia for the ridiculously easy 1 year visa at some point. What about you? How long will you be out there for?
Jim ********
@Spencer ******
sounds good mate. I’ll just do 3 months this trip and then depending on the situation either get a new visa and stay or come back for 1 or 2 months and then go back
Spencer *******
@Jim *******
3 months is a decent amount of time for sure. Catch up for a Chang or Leo if we in same province, same time mate. I was hoping to enter on the 60 day tourist visa which gives the extra 30 day extension but if borders are closed between Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia etc, not sure how I will renew that visa to get back in. Don’t fancy quarantining again! Hopefully the special tourist visa becomes available soon to the Uk. If I work officially, I’ll hopefully change onto a non-b but who knows right now

One hotel contacted me and offered transportation. I think it's a buyer's market

Curious, how much was the transportation?

They paid. Don't remember the name. I posted I was needing to stay in Chonburi and they contacted me.

Yeh it’s been like that for a few days but the selection is shite and Phuket is well overpriced so i stuck with Bangkok and then will fly down to Phuket after

c: Pattaya is not in Phuket...

My Thai gf was trying to find me a cheap ASQ 2-3 weeks ago. a: there were already many in Pattaya on the list and b: there was nothing cheaper than 36k
Bobby ********
@Jim *******
. Good strategy. It's not like you can wander down to the beach for the day. Location of the ASQ is really irrelevant.
Jim ********
@Bobby *******
exactly mate. The flights alone were going to be an extra £300 without the quarantine hotel. So a £30 internal flight made sense 👍
Bobby ********
@Jim *******
. Domestic fares are very low at the moment. Last month went up to Ubon on Thai. Return trip was a little over 2100 baht. Admittedly no food or drink served, but I can cope for a 50 minute flight. And no runway delays at Suvarnabhumi!
Jim ********
@Bobby *******
yeh. If you have no luggage you can fly from Bangkok to Phuket for £8 at the moment
